The Korean Skincare Routine - 2019

 Morning Skincare Routine

"It may sound extensive, but most Korean women use an 8 and 10-step skincare routine each and every day to help keep their skin looking healthy and beautiful" Although it's quite a bit of work compared to the average skincare regime, their effort does not go unnoticed – these women take pride in knowing they have some of the best skin in the world!" These are the Korean Skincare steps for morning:

Step 1: Wash with water

First thing in the morning, cleanse your skin with only water, not cleanser. Water removes the few impurities that settle on the face during the night, and keeps skin hydrated, too.

Step 2: Toner
To balance the skin's pH levels, it's important to apply toner; otherwise the skin can become dry and dehydrated. Toner further helps to absorb the next products you apply.

Step 3: Essence
Essence is a hybrid between a toner and a serum. It works perfectly to hydrate the complexion, aiding cellular turnover for a youthful appearance.

Step 4: Ampule
Similar to serums, ampules actually comprise an even higher number of active ingredients to target specific skin care concerns. They're used for a finite amount of time as a booster when your skin badly needs the extra help.

Step 5: Serum

Concentrated formulas with an unprecedented amount of active ingredients, serums target specific skin concerns like wrinkles, dark spots, and dehydration.

Step 6: Eye cream
Smooth a light eye cream across both the brow and socket bone moving from the inner to outer corner of the eye. Here, the skin is at its thinnest as there are no sebaceous glands to produce natural oils, so it's important to keep this area hydrated and protected all day long.

Step 7: Moisturizer
Next apply a soothing moisturizer in a light layer across the skin for long lasting all-day hydration.

Step 8: Sunscreen
Applying sunscreen shouldn't be reserved for the summer holidays. Protecting the skin on a daily basis from UV rays will avoid the development of dark spots, wrinkles and fine lines.

 Reduce Stress

This may be taking time for yourself to reflect on things, taking a nap, watching Netflix, coloring, or something else.

Of course this weather permitting. But spending as little as 5 minutes outside can make a difference in your overall mood and health.
Exercise
If you can, try to exercise 15 minutes a couple of times a week. Your workout can be anything of your choice, you could even watch Netflix while doing it .

Daylight Savings Time 2019

It’s that time of year again. Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday morning and we all lose an hour of sleep in exchange for the longer daylight hours of spring.

Here’s what you need to know before Daylight Saving Time begins:
More specifically, when do we turn the clocks ahead?
Clocks in the U.S. officially change as Daylight Saving Time kicks in at 2 a.m. local time on Sunday, March 10.But remember, most smartphones will automatically update themselves when Daylight Saving Time begins.

Who invented Daylight Saving Time?
The origins of Daylight Saving Time are a little blurry as far as who invented it. Some credit the seasonal time changes to scientist George Vernon Hudson and builder William Willett, who proposed shifting the clocks in 1895. Others say Benjamin Franklin invented DST in 1784, but his suggestion wasn’t to change the clocks, it was to get people out of bed earlier—and he was joking.

According to Winston Churchill, Daylight Saving Time expands “opportunities for the pursuit of health and happiness” for millions of people by optimizing the daylight hours. But back in 1916, Germany first implemented Daylight Saving Time during World War I when coal was in short supply. The U.S. followed suit during World Wars I and II. And in the 1980s, businesses funded the Daylight Saving Time Coalition because more daylight is better for business. It is also meant to save energy—longer days, in theory at least, translates to less electricity used.

Where is Daylight Saving Time not observed in the U.S.?

States and territories are allowed to individually opt out of observing Daylight Saving Time. In 2019, Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands are the only U.S. states and territories that do not observe Daylight Saving Time.

Daylight Saving Time or Daylight Savings Time?

It’s always Daylight Saving Time. Daylight Savings Time, while often used, is a misspelling.

International Women's Day - 8 March 2019

International Women's Day - 8 March 2019

Is celebrated around the world on the 8th of March and is a day to reflect on how far we have come and how far we still have to go to truly achieve gender equality.
International Women's Day is recognized by countries on every continent . In fact, according to the official International Women's Day organization, many countries including Cuba, Afghanistan, Vietnam, China, and Russia recognize March 8 and IWD as a national holiday.
The United States began celebrating Women's Day even before it became an international event, holding the first Women's Day on FEB. 28, 1909.
For this reason, it's important that IWD is celebrated through solidarity with, and between, women around the world.

Without a doubt, the IWD 2016 celebrations from Taiwan to Scotland to Turkey prove that women's rights are on the forefront of peoples' minds across the globe.
Maybe someday, IWD will be celebrated, and officially recognized as a holiday, by all nations __ along with women's ( and human ) rights.
